Reflection 2.23 Themes research

The two topics I found are Temporary and Complex.

To the Temporary, it means means lasting for a period of time. As the time pass, a temporary architecture will be demolished by the nature or human activities. It also be called Transient Architecture, which is appearing and disappearing more in the urban area, and the features of temporary gives the designers more freedom to experiment their ideas, but not only to be focused on the eternity of the design. The mobile cabin hospital in China is a great example of the temporary architecture. It is built in short time at empty location, and can be demolished after its duty has done.

To the Complex, as a single word, complex means the complicated. A complex thing may bring people confusion. In the architecture design, a complex building may contain lots of functions, and each group of the buildings or areas are designed for different purpose, just like a collage. The users may get collective living in the complex buildings design. As an example, the Narkomfin Apartment is designed to provide maximum functional public space and minimum space for the users.

Action Plan: To my design idea in the temporary, I might create a memory design that can change by the time, or a temporary buildings can provide temporary living for the refugees. And to the design idea of complex, I may create a huge complex building based on the Kowloon walled city.
